Maximum Efficiency: Evolucity Warehouse Design

Maximum Efficiency: Evolucity Warehouse Design

Following Industry Standards of Design Best Practices

EVOLUCITY Commerce follows industry standards and best practices in warehouse design to ensure that you and your customers get the most accurate, reliable, and cost effective service possible. Logistics and warehousing, like many things, are both art and science, and the more one can leverage data around cost and time efficiencies to continuously refine and improve, the better. Each of our warehouse locations are design for optimal efficiency to give our customers the best experience possible.

Warehouse design is important because seemingly inconsequential details like product placement, vertical storage, pick and pack station, and aisle spacing can all have dramatic effects on the efficiency of our warehouse operation.

Segmenting Space Based on Activity or Product Type

Segmenting warehouse design space by function or activity and ultimately the products by type helps to ensure an organized and well flowing warehouse operation. Product inventory is stored depending on product type, dimensional sizing and often stock keeping units for easy retrieval.

Aisle Considerations

While it may seem trivial there is a lot of thought that should be put into aisle design and configuration. When designing our warehouse layout, we like to ensure that our aisles are wide enough to accommodate forklifts easily, close enough together to maximize aisle space, but then also short enough with cross aisles for people and machines to have the ability to quickly flow through aisles from one side of the warehouse to another.

Auditing Layout and Inventory

With constant inventory fluctuations and new products and clients utilizing our space regularly, warehouse operations is a complex and dynamic workflow. It is important that our warehouse space is periodically audited to ensure accuracy and efficiency. We also perform periodic inventory audits to ensure that customer inventory is accounted for and in the right place, or we undertake an exercise of moving and reindexing our warehouse floor.

Utilizing Vertical Space

At EVOLUCITY Commerce warehouse and storage facilities we maximize our space through usage of vertical space. Our aisles are as tall as safety protocols allow for and stored in a way that helps to pick and store items more efficiently so that we can add more inventory in the same amount of space, helping to manage our physical footprints and maximize cost savings that we can in turn relay back to our customers.

Operational Design for Evolution and Velocity

At EVOLUCITY Commerce evolution and velocity are a part of our DNA. Our warehouse layout is critical to the success of our business and our ability to provide accurate and timely shipping services to our customers. We optimize our space to use it to its maximum potential, to help maintain productivity with our warehouse staff, control inventory, and and safely and effectively ship product. Warehouse maintenance is a continuous evolution and requires ongoing maintenance, monitoring, and changes to ensure that operations continue to function at optimal levels so that we are operating at the speed of business today for all of our customers.
